Alfred Robinson logbook and diary : ms, 1829-1840.

A printed log book containing entries for Robinson's 1829 voyage from Boston to Monterey aboard the ship Brookline; and a second vol. containing a brief record of Robinson's subsequent activities at Monterey and along the Southern Calif. coast. The first vol. includes a few miscellaneous entries, recording a trip from Santa Barbara to Boston (Dec. 1837), and entries written from Mass. and at sea en route to Monterey (1839 and 1840). The second vol., when inverted, is a copy book of business letters from Robinson, chiefly to Bryant, Sturgis? and includes miscellaneous notes concerning births in the family (1837-1838) and a short a play titled "The doctor" in another writer's hand. Both volumes contain pencil and watercolor sketches, of land and seascapes, and of a ship, possibly the Brookline.
